Security Window Film for Schools
Strengthen vulnerable glass. Help delay forced entry. Gain valuable response time.
Professionally installed safety and security window film helps hold shattered glass in place after impact, adding a protective layer to school entrances, doors, windows and other glazed areas.
SCHOOL WINDOW SECURITY
Glass Can Be
One of a School’s Most Vulnerable Entry Points
Doors, sidelights and ground-level windows can create vulnerable points throughout a school building. When ordinary glass breaks, an opening can be created in seconds. Professionally installed security window film is designed to help hold shattered glass together after impact, making it more difficult to quickly breach the opening and helping provide additional time for occupants and first responders.

COMMON VULNERABLE AREAS

Libraries, Cafeterias & Common Areas

HOW IT WORKS
Help Keep Broken Glass in Place
Security window film bonds to the glass surface, helping retain broken glass when the pane is struck. When paired with the appropriate attachment system, the filmed glass can remain secured within the frame, creating added resistance and helping delay entry.

IMPACT
Glass is struck and begins to fracture
GLASS FRACTURES
The glass breaks but remains held by the film
FILM RETAINS GLASS
Shattered glass kept together, reducing the opening
HELPS DELAY ENTRY
The added resistance can help gain valuable response time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is security film bulletproof? While I am well aware of the claims made by many companies out there that their films are "bulletproof". I have yet to find ANYONE in those companies willing to pull out a customers EXISTING glass install their film on it and let me shoot my AR-15 or AR-10 or any one of my handguns while wearing a ballistic vest. So, I think that tells us everything we need to know. If they wont literally stand behind their product on YOUR glass. Your probably shouldn't either.
Can security film really be used to stop active shooters? Security film can be used to deter and slow down an attack and it could even help in keeping the shooter outside of the building by forcing them to literally have to shoot a hole big enough and accurately enough to make a hole big enough to fit an arm or their body through without being cut by broken glass. Tinted security film also adds an additional layer of security as it makes it so they don't know if there is a police office standing there ready to shoot back at them.
Does security film make glass shatterproof? It does NOT make it "shatterproof" It makes the glass more shatter resistant and if it does shatter. the film will hold the shattered glass together rather than it just falling on the floor.
Where should security film be installed in a school? Security film is commonly considered for vulnerable glazed areas such as main entrances, vestibules, sidelites, ground-level windows, and interior security zones. Because every school has a different layout and existing glass system, a professional assessment can help identify priority openings and determine the appropriate film and attachment system.
Can security film be installed on existing school windows? Yes. Security window film is designed for retrofit applications and can often be installed on existing school windows and glass doors without replacing the entire glazing system. Compatibility depends on the type of glass, frame, and existing conditions, which should be evaluated before installation.
